You will also want to go to the dentist so that they can do a complete exam of your mouth. If there is an apparent problem on the horizon, you may be able to have it remedied much quicker and with a lot less pain than if you wait it out to fix it later.

Keep At It At Home

You will want to make sure that you have a routine to regularly practice positive oral hygiene. Make sure to brush your teeth twice a day to keep them clean and to help remove harmful bacteria. Brushing after meals can also be a big help, as this will remove the bacteria before it has a chance to adhere to your teeth.

If you are a smoker, you are already aware of the downsides of this habit. Quitting smoking can help your teeth, as they will not be covered with tar, which stains the tooth surface. Increase your intake of water to help rinse away any harmful substances from the teeth. 

Eating crunchy vegetables can also be beneficial. as they will increase the amount of saliva in the mouth, making it easier to wash away bacteria from the teeth. These will also help you keep your teeth white. If you drink coffee or tea, consider lessening the amount consumed so that you minimize staining.
