Have you seen those commercials on television that talk about how white your teeth are? If you watch television, you've probably seen them a number of times. However, it might not have occurred to you that perhaps you would one day be interested in having your teeth cleaned and then whitened. From making an appointment for your regular six-month check-up to having your teeth cleaned and whitened, here are some ideas that might help you end up with a truly beautiful smile.

The Six-Month Check-Up - Are you consistent about visiting your doctor every six months? If you have been doing that for many years, that more than likely means that you are meticulous about taking care of your teeth already. At home, you probably have a regimen where you brush and floss regularly, and you more than likely watch what you eat, remembering that sugar products may cause cavities. Maybe you have even brushed your teeth with both special over-the-counter toothpaste and the addition of baking soda.

Perhaps you have noticed, however, that even after using over-the-counter products that are meant to whiten your teeth, you are still not thrilled about the fact that your teeth look a bit yellow. Even after the money that was spent on getting your braces, you are still not thrilled about the way your teeth look when you smile.

The Teeth Whitening Regimen - At your next visit to the dentist, think about asking the dental hygienist or your dentist about having your teeth whitened. If you don't already know how teeth are whitened professionally, you will more than likely be fascinated by the technique that is used. Of course, there are several ways that the dentist might choose to whiten your teeth. First, he or she may recommend an extra-strong toothpaste that is not available in regular stores. However, the dentist also might recommend you whitening your teeth at home.

A type of tray will more than likely be made of the imprint of your mouth and you will be given a substance to put in the tray when you want to whiten your teeth. Of course, it will probably take more than once to make a difference in the way your teeth look. Be sure to read the directions that come with your appliance and follow them carefully. For example, don't leave the appliance and the whitener on your teeth too long, or your teeth might hurt.
