Have you decided to use Invisalign to correct the alignment of your teeth? If so, you're likely to have a lot of questions about this form of orthodontics that is less noticeable than traditional braces.

Will The Treatment Hurt?

Invisalign treatment is not painful, though many people experience discomfort in the form of pressure that lasts a couple of days after using a new alignment tray. On the other hand, some people feel no discomfort at all. There is no guarantee about what you will or will not feel, but you shouldn't expect the process to feel painful.

How Often Can The Aligners Be Removed

The Invisalign trays can be removed for a couple of hours each day, but that doesn't mean you should take them out just because you want a break from them. The only times the trays should be removed are when eating and cleaning your teeth. If you stick to removing them during these times, you'll likely already be around the allowable time that you can have the trays removed each day.

How Often Do The Aligners Need To Be Cleaned?

You should be cleaning the aligners every single day, which can be done by taking them out and lightly brushing them with your toothbrush. You do replace the trays every couple of weeks, so cleaning them is mainly to remove bacteria and prevent staining so they do not look bad near the end of the tray's use period.

Can You Drink With The Aligners In?

It is okay to drink water while you are wearing the aligners. Dark beverages can stain the alignment trays, which will defeat the purpose of them being invisible. Hot beverages can also cause the trays to become disfigured and make that treatment period ineffective. Just stick to drinking water with them in and you'll be fine.

What Happens If You Damage Or Lose An Alignment Tray?

If you happen to damage or lose one of your alignment trays, speak to your orthodontist about it immediately. They can help order you a new alignment tray to get you back on track. This is also why it is a good idea to always hold onto your previous alignment tray so you can wear it temporarily. Your treatment will be delayed, but not for too long.

Will The Aligners Impact How You Talk?

Some people do notice that their speech is altered soon after wearing the alignment trays. However, it is something that you will adjust to overtime. Know that you may have an easier time adjusting your speech with Invisalign as opposed to traditional braces because they are thinner and do not get in the way as much.
